Dotting the Eye: An Intent-Driven Image Retouching Agent for Visual Focus Enhancement

Image retouching is commonly formulated as enhancing overall visual quality through color adjustment, but in practice, it also serves to emphasize visual focus by guiding viewers' attention toward a specific subject or region. Achieving such focus-oriented retouching is inherently challenging, as it requires well-coordinated global and local adjustments to manipulate perceptual saliency while maintaining visual naturalness. This intricate process typically demands substantial professional expertise. In this study, we propose EyeControl, a MLLM-driven agent with a diffusion-based retouching executor that enables visual focus enhancement under weak user intent. With only a few clicks or coarse strokes, EyeControl directs visual attention to the intended region, effectively "dotting the eye" of the image. The core idea is to explicitly link the weak user intention with the target editing region and the corresponding tonal adjustment operations during retouching. To achieve this, the system first interprets the intent and image content to infer the visual focus and generate structured intent guidance for the retouching executor. Second, the retouching executor is encouraged to respond more strongly to the target region, explicitly aligning its attention map with a designed pseudo-intent map. We also introduce an operation-consistency constraint to improve coordination between global and local adjustments, achieving more natural and coherent retouching. Additionally, we contribute ControlArt-Bench, a high-quality evaluation dataset for visual focus enhancement. Extensive evaluations demonstrate that EyeControl yields perceptually appealing results with stronger intent alignment. Code can be found in https://github.com/DragonisCV/EyeControl.

ControlNET: A Firewall for RAG-based LLM System

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) has significantly enhanced the factual accuracy and domain adaptability of Large Language Models (LLMs). This advancement has enabled their widespread deployment across sensitive domains such as healthcare, finance, and enterprise applications. RAG mitigates hallucinations by integrating external knowledge, yet introduces privacy risk and security risk, notably data breaching risk and data poisoning risk. While recent studies have explored prompt injection and poisoning attacks, there remains a significant gap in comprehensive research on controlling inbound and outbound query flows to mitigate these threats. In this paper, we propose an AI firewall, ControlNET, designed to safeguard RAG-based LLM systems from these vulnerabilities. ControlNET controls query flows by leveraging activation shift phenomena to detect adversarial queries and mitigate their impact through semantic divergence. We conduct comprehensive experiments on four different benchmark datasets including Msmarco, HotpotQA, FinQA, and MedicalSys using state-of-the-art open source LLMs (Llama3, Vicuna, and Mistral). Our results demonstrate that ControlNET achieves over 0.909 AUROC in detecting and mitigating security threats while preserving system harmlessness. Overall, ControlNET offers an effective, robust, harmless defense mechanism, marking a significant advancement toward the secure deployment of RAG-based LLM systems.

Music ControlNet: Multiple Time-varying Controls for Music Generation

Text-to-music generation models are now capable of generating high-quality music audio in broad styles. However, text control is primarily suitable for the manipulation of global musical attributes like genre, mood, and tempo, and is less suitable for precise control over time-varying attributes such as the positions of beats in time or the changing dynamics of the music. We propose Music ControlNet, a diffusion-based music generation model that offers multiple precise, time-varying controls over generated audio. To imbue text-to-music models with time-varying control, we propose an approach analogous to pixel-wise control of the image-domain ControlNet method. Specifically, we extract controls from training audio yielding paired data, and fine-tune a diffusion-based conditional generative model over audio spectrograms given melody, dynamics, and rhythm controls. While the image-domain Uni-ControlNet method already allows generation with any subset of controls, we devise a new strategy to allow creators to input controls that are only partially specified in time. We evaluate both on controls extracted from audio and controls we expect creators to provide, demonstrating that we can generate realistic music that corresponds to control inputs in both settings. While few comparable music generation models exist, we benchmark against MusicGen, a recent model that accepts text and melody input, and show that our model generates music that is 49% more faithful to input melodies despite having 35x fewer parameters, training on 11x less data, and enabling two additional forms of time-varying control. Sound examples can be found at https://MusicControlNet.github.io/web/.

BRIDGE: Background Routing and Isolated Discrete Gating for Coarse-Mask Local Editing

Coarse-mask local image editing asks a model to modify a user-indicated region while preserving the surrounding scene. In practice, however, rough masks often become unintended shape priors: instead of serving as flexible edit support, the mask can pull the generated object toward its accidental boundary. We study this failure as mask-shape bias and frame the task through a Two-Zone Constraint, where the background should remain stable while the editable region should follow the instruction without being forced to inherit the mask contour. BRIDGE addresses this setting by keeping masks outside the DiT backbone for support construction and blending, avoiding DiT-internal mask injection and copied control branches. It uses BridgePath generation, where a Main Path preserves background context and a Subject Path generates editable content from independent noise. Motivated by a diagnostic Qwen-Image experiment showing that positional embeddings and attention connectivity regulate which image context visual tokens reuse, BRIDGE introduces a learnable Discrete Geometric Gate for token-level positional-embedding routing. This gate lets subject tokens borrow background-anchored coordinates near fusion regions or keep subject-centric coordinates for geometric freedom. We evaluate BRIDGE on BRIDGE-Bench, MagicBrush, and ICE-Bench. On BRIDGE-Bench, BRIDGE improves Local SigLIP2-T from 0.262 with FLUX.1-Fill and 0.390 with ACE++ to 0.503, with parallel gains in local DINO and DreamSim. Zero-shot results on MagicBrush and ICE-Bench further indicate competitive alignment and source preservation beyond the curated benchmark, while the added routing module remains compact at 13.31M parameters compared with ControlNet-style copied branches.

RealisVSR: Detail-enhanced Diffusion for Real-World 4K Video Super-Resolution

Video Super-Resolution (VSR) has achieved significant progress through diffusion models, effectively addressing the over-smoothing issues inherent in GAN-based methods. Despite recent advances, three critical challenges persist in VSR community: 1) Inconsistent modeling of temporal dynamics in foundational models; 2) limited high-frequency detail recovery under complex real-world degradations; and 3) insufficient evaluation of detail enhancement and 4K super-resolution, as current methods primarily rely on 720P datasets with inadequate details. To address these challenges, we propose RealisVSR, a high-frequency detail-enhanced video diffusion model with three core innovations: 1) Consistency Preserved ControlNet (CPC) architecture integrated with the Wan2.1 video diffusion to model the smooth and complex motions and suppress artifacts; 2) High-Frequency Rectified Diffusion Loss (HR-Loss) combining wavelet decomposition and HOG feature constraints for texture restoration; 3) RealisVideo-4K, the first public 4K VSR benchmark containing 1,000 high-definition video-text pairs. Leveraging the advanced spatio-temporal guidance of Wan2.1, our method requires only 5-25% of the training data volume compared to existing approaches. Extensive experiments on VSR benchmarks (REDS, SPMCS, UDM10, YouTube-HQ, VideoLQ, RealisVideo-720P) demonstrate our superiority, particularly in ultra-high-resolution scenarios.

Unlocking Compositional Control: Self-Supervision for LVLM-Based Image Generation

This paper introduces Hierarchical Self-Supervised LVLM (Hi-SSLVLM), a novel generative model designed to significantly advance text-to-image synthesis, particularly for complex and compositionally challenging prompts. Traditional methods often grapple with the high cost of meticulously curated paired image-text datasets and struggle with precise control over fine-grained visual attributes and intricate spatial relationships. Our Hi-SSLVLM addresses these limitations through a unique two-stage self-supervised learning strategy. The first stage, Multi-Granularity Visual-Language Grounding, enables the Large Vision-Language Model (LVLM) backbone to autonomously generate and align hierarchical captions (global and local) to images, cultivating a deep internal semantic understanding without reliance on extensive human annotation. The second stage, Self-Refinement and Guided Image Generation, leverages this acquired knowledge by an Internal Compositional Planning (ICP) mechanism, where the LVLM first formulates detailed textual sub-prompts to guide the image generation process, complemented by a novel Semantic Consistency Loss for precise output alignment. Comprehensive experiments against leading baselines, including Janus-Pro-1B, Stable Diffusion XL 1.0, DeepFloyd IF v1.0, and ControlNet-XL, on multi-dimensional benchmarks such as Gemini-2.0-Flash and InternVL3-78B, demonstrate Hi-SSLVLM's superior performance across all fine-grained metrics. An in-depth ablation study confirms the critical role of each proposed component. Furthermore, human evaluations corroborate our quantitative findings, highlighting Hi-SSLVLM's enhanced fidelity to prompt, compositional accuracy, and overall aesthetic quality, marking a significant step towards more controllable and semantically consistent open-ended text-to-image generation.
